With gas prices following the track of an out of control roller coaster everyone is looking for ways to save. Here are a few that you may not have been aware of.
- Fill up with regular gas, not premium. This is only if your vehicle does not require premium gasoline. If there is an option, then opt for regular. Despite prior debates premium gas does not improve the gas mileage or performance of a vehicle.
- Do not waste money or gas by topping off your tank. As soon as the pump clicks off that your tank is full, stop pumping. Any additional will only leak out and not be used at all.
- Click and tighten that gas cap, multiple times. When you skip this very simple step you risk your gasoline evaporating more than anything else. When the gas cap is not tightened you are giving the gas an escape route and it will take it!
- Parking in the shade can truly help save on gas. Even if the vehicle is not even running. The fact is that when your vehicle is baking in the sun it turns into a sauna and inevitably will cause the gas to evaporate.
- If you have a garage, use it. By using the garage for what it was made for, not a storage unit, it will keep your vehicle warm in the winter and out of the elements. This trick will help you not have to use your AC or your defroster as much as if it were outside.
This is only five minor tips to help you save on gas. Continue reading my blogs and there will be many more tips and tricks on several different topics.
