If you are looking to invest in a Mercedes-Benz electric vehicle in the near future, CATL is a company that you will want to familiarize yourself with. CATL stands for Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited and they are a Chinese battery manufacturer. Mercedes-Benz and CATL announced a major partnership earlier this month. They announced that CATL will supply Mercedes-Benz’ batteries for the EQS electric car.
Landing a partnership with CATL is no small feat as CATL has current partnerships with some of the biggest names in the industry. Some of their partnerships include Hyundai, Honda, BMW, Toyota, Volkswagen, and Volvo. They are known within the industry and a deal with them means nothing but positive things.
Markus Schafer was excited about the new partnership as he said, “We intend to lead in battery technologies, so we are now combining our own research and development expertise with bold partners. We will integrate cutting-edge battery systems to create luxury cars with outstanding range, charging speed, safety, and sustainability. Working with CATL will see us accelerate our transformation toward carbon-neutrality. CATL will be a major supplier securing capacity for the next generations of our EQ products in the years to come.”
CATL dominates the biggest electric vehicle market in the world in China and they also partner with European, American, and Japanese automakers. This is a huge step for Mercedes-Benz and this new partnership is only going to increase their electric vehicle market share. Big things are coming for Mercedes-Benz and you do not want to miss it. Do not be surprised if Mercedes-Benz ends up giving Tesla a run for their money here in the near future.
