So, you just bought your new Mercedes-Benz or your new Porsche and like any new car owner you want to keep it in the best condition possible. No scratches, no dents, no breakdowns, no malfunctions, etc. If this is you, you are not alone. Nobody wants to invest thousands of dollars into a car and end up having it last for only a few years. To help you prolong the life of your new car here are some things you can do to make it last forever.

The easiest thing you can do is pay attention to the engine. If you see anything strange or hear anything funky, get it checked out right away. Any loud ticking or screechy noise that the engine produces when you start your car can indicate major problems. The engine is the heart of your car and needs to be in tip-top shape every time it runs. So, when you notice something wrong get it checked out right away.

That leads us to our next tip. Getting it checked. One of the smartest things you can do to help prolong the life of your car is to find an honest mechanic. When you bring your car in for maintenance, you want to work with someone you can trust. You want to work with a mechanic who has experience, knowledge, and knows everything there is to know about cars. Find a good mechanic and you and your car will be in the best hands possible. (Looking for one, no better place to look than right here at Midtown Autoworks!).

Lastly, we advise you to watch your driving habits. For example, avoid gunning the accelerator. Slower acceleration is much gentler on the car’s overall health. Just because your car can accelerate from 0 to 60mph in less than five seconds does not mean that you should take advantage of that feature every time you get behind the wheel. Another example is avoiding storing heavy objects in your car. Unless it is a big truck there is no reason to keep heavy objects stored in your car all the time. Excess weight can wear out your tires quicker and can put an overall strain on the vehicle. Watch your driving habits and doing so will help your car’s lifespan.

Take these tips into consideration if you want to extend the life of your car. You invested a lot of money in your car so treat it right so it can last for years.
