The Taycan is Porsche’s first EV ever manufactured. There were some recalls which lead to some doubt but overall, the Taycan found great success. Porsche sold over 41,000 units worldwide. This placed third right behind the Cayenne and Macan. Because Porsche found such great success with the Taycan, they have decided that their next EV will come out in the 2023 model year but this time it will be a compact SUV. The Macan will now be electrified in the 2023 model year.
We do not know much yet but we do know that the release date of the 2023 Porsche Macan EV will likely be later this year or early next year. To our knowledge it will be available at Porsche dealerships throughout the country as well as in select international markets.
According to Car and Driver the 2023 Macan EV will ride on a new electric platform that will also underpin the upcoming Audi A6 E-Tron. It will have significantly more range than the Taycan which currently tops out at 227 miles on a full charge. Trim-wise the 2023 Macan EV will likely mirror those of the gas Macan, with a more powerful S model and a range-topping GTS providing the highest level of performance.
The price for this new Macan EV will likely begin at $80,000 which is slightly cheaper than the base model of Porsche’s flagship EV. If you climb the ladder the top of the line GTS model will certainly crest the six figure mark. Nothing is set in stone since we do not even have the specs yet but this is a rough estimate of what you can expect later this year/early next year.
Expect Porsche to continue to manufacture EVs as that is where the industry is going. For more information on Porsche cars please reach out to us here at Midtown Autoworks.
